Welbury Broadband

Thank you to all residents that have already filled in the broadband community survey forms to establish if there is clear market failure to provide an acceptable, reliable or even NO broadband service at all. We still need more surveys returned, if possible. This flyer is to explain a little more about the proposal and to invite you to a pub meeting. NYNet operate on behalf of North Yorkshire County Council a broadband fibre ring connecting public services around the county and has a mandate to try to reach communities like yours with unacceptable broadband. As a result and an initial feasibility study by L N Communications it has been shown that Appleton Wiske might receive a much faster service direct by wireless link from the NYNet fibre ring of 10-20 Megabits/second. Provisionally we expect prices of between £15 for light users to £30 for heavy users per month. This new system will be capable of delivering fibre optic speeds(100mbps) to every resident independent of the telephone system or cable and will be delivered to each house with a small wireless receiver box commonly on your TV pole. This will plug into a normal wireless router in your home for laptops etc.

To achieve this aim and for the whole village to benefit we now need your expressions of interest (without commitment) and provide a second chance to complete the community survey. This is to justify any public funding for this project and to access if interest is sufficient to make the project sustainable. You are invited to find out more and ask any questions to representatives from NYNet, NYCC and LN Communications. If you are interested but cannot make the meeting then please contact Richard Johnson at richard@aesl.info or 01609881576
